The Last Word

Tom Lazarus’s book on screenwriting is a super awesome read because he is so direct with you about what works and what doesn’t. No gimmicks and merry-go-round, just straight to the point.

Basically, every scene must move the story forward, start your screenplay with the ‘A’ story, allow the audience to access the film through the characters, and throw away the classic 3-act structure to favor what is known as the ‘Rising Action’ structure where every scene reveals more and more and get more exciting to hook the audience! Last but not least, show rather than tell!
